WHO

Aller Media is Scandinavia's largest media group with over 2000 employees and operations in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. The total weekly magazine circulation is in excess of 1 million in Denmark and 3 million in Scandinavia. During recent years, the Aller Group have invested in new media with the acquisition of Spray in Sweden, half of the internet portal SOL in Norway and EDB-priser in Denmark.

WHAT

Aller Press is more than just publications and magazines. It is a media centre and the digitalisation of the magazines should emphasise this. All the magazines must ’live’ online and give the users a new dimension to the physical magazine that they are fond of. Despite the magazines' individual graphic identity, a template on a platform must be constructed that is easily accessible for the web editors who have to maintain the online magazines.

HOW

Before In2media went ahead with the design, a series of meetings was held with all the Aller editors. We defined the identity and the focus area for each magazine. Subsequently, 2 basis modules were developed that are built on the same platform. Module A is an current events template for magazines that are published frequently and have lots of news. Module B is a theme template for monthly magazines. In addition, we developed modules for items such as competitions, reader's letters and other specific elements for the individual magazine. Everything is Sitecore CMS based.

WOW

An important success criterium for Aller was the construction of one collective online platform for all their magazine and portal publications. It succeeded above all expectations to bring all Aller's digital initiatives together on one platform, which is today the key to all their online activities across all the editorial teams and areas of business, and with more than 900,000 visits and 34 million page displays a month, it puts Allers sites among the 10 most popular online media in Denmark. The platform has also become the key to new sales for millions of kroner from advertising, subscriptions and product sales.
